Gabadinho Mhango and Mogakolodi Ngele played starring roles, as Bidvest Wits defeated Golden Arrows 3-0 to move top of the Absa Premiership table.
The Clever Boys saw a lot of the ball in the opening exchanges but were finding it tough to create chances in the final third.
Wits were eventualy awarded a penalty in the 20th minute when Thabang Monare was brought down. Gabadinho Mhagno stepped up and made no mistake from the spot, 1-0.
Monare sustained an injury in winning the penalty and was replaced Phumlani Ntshangase after 21 minutes.
The home side had another chance in the 30th minute when Sifiso Myeni picked out Mhango, headed wide of the upright from close range.
Clinton Larsen opted for a change five minutes before the halftime break, as Sibusiso Sibeko made way for Chiukepo Msowoya.
Arrows nearly levelled matters shortly after the break but Knox Mutizwa rattled the crossbar with Darren Keet well beaten.
Wits eventually doubled their lead in the 65th minute as Ngele rifled home a superb long range effort that left Gumede with no chance, 2-0.
It was 3-0 four minutes later as Ngele bagged his second of the game by turning home Mhango's cross.
Eleazar Rodgers replaced Mhango after 71 minutes and nearly got his name on the score-sheet five minutes later, but Gumede rushed off his line to deny the striker.
Wits managed to see out the closing stages with relative ease at the Bidvest Stadium to claim a vital three points in their pursuit of the title.
The victory moves Gavin Hunt's charges to the top of the table, while Arrows remain in sixth spot.
