Teams: Baroka 0-1 AmaZulu
Date: 27 October 2019
Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium
AmaZulu registered a second straight Absa Premiership victory after defeating struggling Baroka FC, who have now lost four straight league clashes.
After being dumped out of the Telkom Knockout last weekend, Baroka were desperate to get their league campaign back on track after failing to win their last four matches.
Usuthu were in the same boat as the counterparts aft they suffered a humiliating 5-0 loss at the hand of Mamelodi Sundowns in the Telkom Knockout seven days ago.
The game's first real opening arrived after 20 minutes when Bonginkosi Ntuli and Lehlohonolo Majoro combined to set up Siyethemba Sithebe, who saw his effort blocked in the box.
Baroka did manage to see a bit of the ball in the latter stages of the half, but they were met by a resolute defence as Martin Nsimba went close with an effort in the box after working his way into the box.
Five minutes into the second half, Usuthu were awarded a penalty after Nsimba was adjudged to have handled in the box. Ntuli stepped up and made no mistake from 12-yards out to hand his side the lead.
The host continued to push for more goals and they were nearly rewarded with a second when Ncobeni sent Maduna though on goal, but the latter's attempted lob sailed over the bar with only Elvis Chipezeze to beat.
Baroka threw bodies forward in search of an equaliser in the latter stages of the half, but Usuthu remained resolute
