Eagles Sign Twelve Players From Stars
When Royal Eagles purchased the National First Division franchise of Sivutsa Stars, it was originally thought that the Durban-based outfit would surround itself with players from KZN.
However, in an effort to avoid the pitfalls normally associated with takeovers, Eagles management have decided to retain at least twelve men who did duty for Stars last season.
Head coach, Duncan Lechesa, confirmed to the Siya crew that, “The majority of our players were with Sivutsa, but I have also signed defender, Thapelo Ntshangase from FC Cape Town. Included in that list is Stars influential defender and captain, Bongane Nyambi."
In fact, besides the 24-year-old, the club will also be utilising other stoppers such as Samuel Manganyi and Mzwandile Buthelezi, while in the middle of the park playmakers like Siyabonga Sibiya, Leabua Lemena, Ayanda Ndlovu, Emmanuel Sambo and Mpho Mbebe should be a force to be reckoned with.
Another interesting aspect of Sbu Mpisane’s club is that they have just returned to their Mpumalanga roots for pre-season training.
“The team is in Nelspruit now,” said a source, “They should be gelling a lot better, especially since almost the entire back line and all those midfielders have been retained.”
