SuperSport United attacker, Mark Mayambela, will be a relieved man this week after he was released following a minor transgression on the road at the weekend.
The 28-year-old former Orlando Pirates man was reportedly arrested on Sunday morning after being caught speeding in Gauteng, however was promptly released in time to take part in Sunday’s Champion of Champions tournament.
Mayambela, who signed for Matsatsantsa in January, will be hoping to finish the season on a strong note as he looks to impress head coach, Stuart Baxter, and will be eager to try and get his first goal of the season in the last few games.
The Cape Town-born dribbler is not the only Absa Premiership player to have a run in the with law this weekend, with Brighton Mhlongo also being arrested for speeding, however unlike Mhlongo, it is thought that Mayambela has not been charged.
Mayambela will now be hoping to prove that he has learnt his lesson with this minor scare, and focus on his football for the remainder of the 2015/16 season.
