Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained why Paul Pogba was absent during the Red Devils' loss to Arsenal on Wednesday evening.
It seemed everything was going well for the Frenchman when he made an encouraging cameo in the 2-0 defeat to Watford on December 22, before he made another cameo on Boxing Day against Newcastle United.
Pogba was reportedly rested for the win of over Burnley this past weekend, while reports in England claimed he played in a charity match two days ago.
Solskjear revealed before the encounter that Frenchman has suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury.
"He's injured, he's feeling some discomfort in his ankle. He'll be out for a few weeks definitely," Solskjaer said, as per the Mirror.
"It is the same ankle he has struggled with for a while and he will be out for a while."
The 2018 World Cup winner, who continues to be linked with Real Madrid, has only made seven Premier League appearances for the Red Devils this season.
Despite the lines with Los Blancos, the player's agent recently confirmed he will not be leaving the club during the January transfer window.
