If there's any truth in the rumours that Chippa United might play some games in Sisa Dukashe stadium in Mdantsane, then that would be a very good thing for the Township that is popular for being the home of Boxing. What people out there don't know is the passion that Mdantsane people have for football.
Having grown up 400 meters from the stadium, I know exactly how passionate the people of that hood are about the beautiful game. It is so sad that they don't have the team of their own in the elite league since the days of Tornado that was playing in the NFD.
In light of all that, the people of Mdantsane had experienced some top flight football action in a number of occasions when Bush Bucks was based in East London as they use to play some of their home games there. One highlight that the township will never forget is when Nkosinathi Mqobongo was spotted by Orlando Pirates playing a curtain raiser for a local amature team before a Bush Bucks vs Pirates game. So once again if Chippa United, who are the only top flight team in the Eastern Cape can go and play there, it would be a very good thing for the township and it would bring back some wonderful memories!
