Mamelodi Sundowns will switch their focus back to the Nedbank Cup when they visit Marumo Gallants in the round of 16 on Thursday evening.

Nedbank Cup

Teams: Marumo Gallants v Mamelodi Sundowns

Date: 02 March 2023

Venue: Toyota Stadium

Time: 18h00

Sundowns have not been in domestic action since booking their spot in the last 16 with a narrow 3-2 win over Richards Bay just before mid-February.

The Brazilians have since played three successive CAF Champions League matches, where they dropped points for the first time but remained top of their group after a 2-2 draw with Al Ahly over the weekend.

As a result, Bahlabane Ba Ntwa will be motivated to turn the tables especially given their form since a new technical team was appointed, with Raymond Mdaka holding the fort as interim head coach.

The Limpopo side have won four of their last five games in all competitions since the new technical was appointed and lost for the first time under Mdaka after a 2-0 loss to USM Alger in the CAF Confederation Cup group game over the weekend.

The meetings between the sides have been tight affairs, as Sundowns edged Gallants 1-0 in the first round clash in the league back in October last year.
