Sundowns Confirm Starting XI To Face Al Ahly

Mamelodi Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns' perfect start in the CAF Champions League group stages will get a stern test when they visit Al Ahly on Saturday evening.

CAF Champions League

Teams: Al Ahly v Mamelodi Sundowns

Date: 25 February 2023

Venue: Al Salam Stadium

Time: 21h00

Sundowns not only maintained their winning start in Group B with a 3-1 win over Coton Sport in Garoua just over a week ago but have actually won all the matches since Rulani Mokwena assumed the role as head coach.

The Brazilians are sitting at the top of the section with six points, equal on points with Al Hilal, who stunned Al Ahly 1-0 and edged Coton Sport 2-1 to heap the pressure on the Red Devils.

The Egyptian giants have played only one game in the group after their participation in the FIFA Club World Cup and will be searching for their first points on the board against a team that beat them home and away in last season's group stage matches.

Al Ahly, however, are doing well in the Egyptian Premier League, as they top the table by two points, with three games in hand and are yet to lose in the current season.

Marcel Koller's charges resumed their domestic campaign with a 3-0 victory over Aswan on Tuesday evening.

These two sides met in last season's group stage phase, with the Brazilians picking up a win in Cairo and on home soil.

Here's how they line up:

Al Ahly: El Shenway, Maaloul, Metwally, Abdelmonem, Hany, Marwan, Dieng, Afsha, Abdelkader, El Shahat, Tau

Mamelodi Sundowns: Williams, Kekana, Mvala, Mudau, Modiba, Mokoena, Allende, Mkhulise, Zwane, Mailula, Shalulile

Subs: Lebusa, B.Onyango, Zungu, D.Onyango, Motupa, Domingo, Morena, Maema, Coetzee
