The battle for second spot place continues as SuperSport United travel to relegation-threatened Marumo Gallants this evening.

DStv Premiership

Teams: Marumo Gallants v SuperSport United

Date: 18 April 2023

Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium

Time: 19h30

In the race for a second-place finish, SuperSport dropped points for two consecutive games, including a narrow loss against rivals Orlando Pirates and only recovered in their last league outing almost two weeks ago after beating TS Galaxy 2-0.

Matsatsantsa are lying third on the table, behind second-placed placed Pirates on goal difference and need to win by three goals or more to reclaim second spot.

Gallants, meanwhile, have transferred their CAF Confederation Cup form to the domestic league, as they extended their unbeaten run to six matches in the Premiership after thrashing direct rivals Chippa United 3-1 almost a week ago.

The morale-boosting win over the Chilli Boys took the Limpopo side out of the relegation zone, up to 14th on the table, one point ahead of 15th-placed Chippa and another win could take them up to 11th.

SuperSport are also chasing a double over Gallants after edging them 1-0 in the reverse courtesy of a bullet header by Onismor Bhasera at the end of December last year.
