Teams: Kaizer Chiefs v Cape Town City

Date: 03 October 2023

Venue: FNB Stadium

Time: 19h30

Chiefs ended their four-game winless run in all competitions after coming from behind to beat Sekhukhune United 2-1 last week courtesy of goals from Edson Castillo and Edmilson Dove.

Amakhosi moved up to sixth on the table with 11 points and will jump to second spot if they clinch back-to-back matches.

City, meanwhile, also ended their five-game winless run in the league, where four of those matches were losses after thrashing Cape Town Spurs 3-1 on Saturday.

The win took the Citizens up to ninth on the table with ten points and they could move up to fourth on the log, depending on the margin of victory, if they beat Chiefs.

City completed a league double over Amakhosi last season after beating them 2-0 at home and 1-0 away.

Actually, the Cape Town side have won the last three league matches against Chiefs and they are unbeaten against the Soweto giants in five league games.

The last time Chiefs beat City in the league was in January 2021, although Amakhosi did beat the Citizens this season in the MTN8 quarter-finals with a 2-1 scoreline.
