Pirates had a shaky start to the season after a 1-0 loss to Stellenbosch but responded emphatically with a 4-2 thrashing of Royal AM in the league and hammered Sekhukhune United 5-0 in the MTN8 quarter-finals on Saturday, with Zakhele Lepasa netting a hat-trick.

Pirates are placed sixth on the standings with three points from two games and will be looking to keep up with leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
