Teams: Chippa United v Orlando Pirates

Date: 08 April 2023

Venue: Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium

Pirates won their third league match in a row to remain in the running for the coveted second spot finish after beating Richards Bay 2-0 thanks to goals by Terrence Dzvukamanja and Monnapule Saleng last weekend.

The Buccaneers, however, have dropped down to third on the log, three points behind second-placed SuperSport United after rivals Matsatsantsa beat TS Galaxy 2-0 on Friday evening.

Jose Riveiro's charges will retain second spot on the table if they secure maximum points this evening.

Chippa, meanwhile, will be looking for their first victory in six matches after they remained without a win since Morgan Mammila was relieved of his duties and Kurt Lentjies brought back following their 1-1 draw with SuperSport last weekend.

The Chilli Boys have been dragged to the fringes of relegation, as they dropped down to 14th on the table, only two points above 15th-placed Maritzburg United.

Pirates will also be desperate to respond after they were stunned 1-0 by Chippa in the reverse fixture following a late goal by Abdi Banda in the early stages of the season.
