The KwaZulu-Natal side's last league game was a 2-1 defeat to Moroka Swallows just before the FIFA break, which ended their three-game unbeaten run.
Usuthu dropped down to 11th on the table with ten points from eight games.
AmaZulu utility player Abbubaker Mobara will not be available against his former team due to suspension.
