Orlando Pirates will be hoping to continue their cup form when they host Cape Town Spurs in the Carling Knockout round of 16 on Friday evening.

Carling Knockout

Teams: Orlando Pirates v Cape Town Spurs

Date: 20 October 2023

Venue: Orlando Stadium

Time: 19h30

The Buccaneers went into the international break on a high note after they won the MTN8 Cup following a 3-1 penalty shootout win over Mamelodi Sundowns after a goalless draw in extra-time in the final.

However, the Soweto giants will be looking to restore their early season goal-scoring form, as they have scored only one goal in their last five games in all competitions.

Spurs, meanwhile, will be chasing their first win of the season, which could boost their morale after they lost their eighth consecutive game in as many league matches following a 2-1 loss to SuperSport United before the FIFA break.

Interim coach Sean Connor, whose first game was a loss to Matsatsantsa after replacing Shaun Bartlett, would have had more time to work on his squad after a two-week break.

The last time the sides met was in 2018 in the Nedbank Cup round of 32 clash where Pirates won 2-0 thanks to a brace by former striker Bernard Morrison.

Here's how they line up:

Orlando Pirates:  24. Chaine, 27. Xoki, 49. Ndah, 26. Shandu, 7. Hotto, 4. Timm, 8. Monare, 28. Maswanganyi, 17. Makgopa, 3. Lorch, 95. Erasmus
