Banyana Banyana get their FIFA Women's World Cup campaign underway against Sweden in Group H this morning
2023 FIFA Women's World Cup
Teams: Sweden v South Africa
Date: 23 July 2023
Venue: Wellington Regional Stadium
Time: 07h00
The South Africans qualified for their second World Cup after reaching the semi-finals of the last Women's Africa Cup of Nations, which they ended up winning.
Unfortunately, the build-up to the tournament has not been smooth as the players were involved in a payment row with the South African Football Association.
The dispute also saw the Banyana players refuse to take the field against Botswana in a send-off game, which forced SAFA to put a make-shift side together earlier this month.

Once the two parties eventually came to an agreement, coach Desire Ellis and her charges jetted off to New Zealand to finish their preparations, which included a 2-0 win over Costa Rica last weekend.
Banyana will be hoping to better their previous appearance at the 2019 World Cup, where they failed to win any of their group stage games.
Here's how they line up:
Sweden: Musovic, Andersson, Ilestedt, Eriksson, Bjorn, Rubensson, Angeldahl, Rytting Kaneryd, Asllani, Rolfo, Blackstenius
South Africa: Swart, Ramalepe, Mbane, Gamede, Holweni, Jane, Biyana, Motlhahlo, Seoposenwe, Magaia, Kgatlana
Subs: Dlamini, Matlou, Moletsane, Magama, Cesane, Kgoale, Dhlamini, Salgado, Shongwe, Makhubela, Kgadiete, Moodaly
