6 Potential Derby Match-Winners

Just a few hours remain before the Soweto derby kicks off and Soccer Laduma looks at who the potential match winners could be on either side.

ORLANDO PIRATES

Monnapule Saleng

The former Free State Stars player is having an incredible October and he would love to finish it on a high with a goal in his first Soweto derby. With four goals in his last two matches for the Buccaneers, Saleng is high on the list of potential match winners for the Soweto giants.

Kermit Erasmus

It hasn't taken long for Erasmus to settle in at Pirates and the Amakhosi defenders will need to be on high alert to ensure he does not get on to the scoresheet. Erasmus is the type of striker who can score and create opportunities, but it would probably mean a lot more for him to score in his first Soweto derby since returning to Pirates.

Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo

He is yet to find the back of the net since joining Pirates from Marumo Gallants, but Ndlondlo has shown in the past that he has an eye for goal and can be a match-winner. Ndlondlo would definitely be itching to get on to the scoresheet. What better way to open your account than in the Soweto Derby?

KAIZER CHIEFS

Keagan Dolly

The Amakhosi vice-captain has come up with some important goals for the club in recent weeks and coach Arthur Zwane will be looking at him to be one of the players to inspire the side to glory this afternoon. Dolly is the set-piece specialist at Amakhosi and this is where he could hurt Pirates and be a match-winner for his side.

Ashley Du Preez

His confidence appears to have taken a knock in recent weeks due to some of the missed chances and pressure from the stands, but Du Preez remains a threat, especially with his pace and ability to take players on. A derby goal would definitely go a long way in restoring some of the confidence he has lot.

Khama Billiat

It's been a difficult few weeks for Billiat since he returned from injury, and he is probably itching to get his name on the scoresheet to finally get going this season. He is no stranger to scoring in the derby and will probably look to get into those dangerous areas to give himself a chance of finding the back of the net.
