Steve Komphela Has Revealed What His Team Talk Was During Half-Time Of The Soweto Derby

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Steve Komphela has revealed what his team talk was like during half-time of the Soweto derby, while the score was still at 1-1.

Chiefs managed to pull a goal back after Orlando Pirates took the lead during the early minutes of the encounter on Saturday, but they were unable to continue on to seal a victory.

Following their 3-1 defeat to Pirates, Head Coach Komphela went on to explain what he told his side during the half-time period, adding that Chiefs will look to use their upcoming Nedbank Cup fixture against Stellenbosch as a form of therapy following their result in the Absa Premiership.

"That talk in the dressing room, just 10 seconds before we left the dressing room, we made it clear that, listen we have had a good first half, we dominated, we played well, we need to kill that game and get those goals," he revealed.

"I don't know how it works but my experience in the derbies, if you have a good first half, the second half goes to the other team, for whatever reason, I don't know why and I said, God forbid it shouldn't be.

"The beauty of it, we are playing Nedbank (Cup), Stellenbosch (and) that should come in as therapy, I hope we go through that match, win properly and gain momentum and forget. I don't think we will sleep until tomorrow morning when we go for (regeneration), maybe after (regeneration) tomorrow they will sweat, but this thing will stick with them. So how do you get rid of it? You just keep focus and you focus on the next match. You can't change what happened today but you can only learn from the mistakes that you've committed," Komphela added.
