Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has discussed why Orlando Pirates' form does not concern them ahead of the Soweto Derby.

Zwane will be in charge of his first Soweto Derby as a head coach and says he knows the responsibility that comes with winning in this historic rivalry.

"It gives you goosebumps, the history of the two giants when they meet, everything comes to a standstill in the country," Zwane said in a pre-match press conference.

"So I for one, being there as a player and now as a coach it's a privilege but also knowing very well the responsibility on our shoulders to go out there and obviously give our best.

"You know make sure also people who have been supporting us through thick and thin, we make them happy." Zwane went on to say.

The coach is also aware that what is stake in the derby is more than just three points.

"It's a big one definitely, we all know that, there's bragging rights that we also want to protect and there's also three points at stake. There's a lot at stake actually, not only three points," he said.

"So we really want to win this game, for our families as well. I for one as a coach I think will be good for me you know to win my first derby and the players as well, those who would be playing in this game of this magnitude for the first time."

Pirates have been on form lately and are high on confidence after they thrashed Mamelodi Sundowns to reach the MTN8 final. In contrast, Chiefs been on a slump and missed out on reaching the MTN8 final after they were knocked out by AmaZulu.

However, Zwane also said that the form book does not count in the Soweto derby.

"They'll also want to start by winning it (new players at Chiefs), which is really great, so we're looking forward to a difficult game because someone said that Pirates at the moment are oozing confidence," he went on.

"They've been winning games and also in the final of the MTN8 but when Chiefs and Pirates meet previous form counts for nothing, what matters most is on the day of the game.

"As to who's going to be in charge of the game, who's going to dictate terms, who's going to get the goalscoring opportunities that will be created on the day. So it's all about that," he added.
