Former Kaizer Chiefs Midfielder Laments Team

A former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder has lamented the team for their loss to Orlando Pirates.

Amakhosi lost 3-1 to Bucs in their Absa Premiership game at the FNB Stadium on Saturday. Junior Khanye has lamented Chiefs for the Soweto derby loss.

"I was not happy with Chiefs' starting line-up. I looked at Chiefs' starting line-up and I knew that Pirates were going to beat them. (Wiseman) Meyiwa is still young. He still needs to mature. The boy is good, but not for a game of that magnitude. They need to speak to Pule Ekstein. We can't keep saying that the guy is coming and will be fine, but nothing happens. A player like (Siphelele) Ntshangase needs a tongue lashing. The guy has to show up. What I have observed about the boy is that he is a good player but I'm not sure if he is good enough for Chiefs. He must put in (the) extra effort. (Leonardo) Castro doesn't seem to get used to Chiefs' philosophy. Chiefs' game requires a striker like (Gustavo) Paez – a mobile player, not the one whose focus is on holding the ball. Chiefs need a goal poacher," said Khanye.

"Chiefs didn't show up. Pirates deserved their win. Pirates could have beaten Chiefs by five goals. (Itumeleng) Khune saved Chiefs so many times in that game. Until when must the guy be the one saving Chiefs? Khune has got a big heart. I played with him as a youngster under Farouk Khan. Talent only is not going to take you anywhere, you need a right attitude. People are crying because of Chiefs' result against Pirates. Chiefs didn't deserve to win. There are players that started for Chiefs but didn't deserve to be in the starting line-up. That game needed soldiers," he added.

"For me, Siphiwe Tshabalala is the only infield player that showed up. He was the only now. Out of all those players, Shabba tried his best. Chiefs need to get rid of some of the players they have in their current squad, I'm sorry to say it. I'm not scared to say it. It's painful. Siyabonga Ngezana didn't show up. (Erick) Mathoho should have played. (Willard) Katsande tried his best. (Daniel) Cardoso tried his best. Initially, I had my doubts about him, but I thought he tried. They need to get Tsepo Masilela back for the left back position. I think Philani (Zulu) sometimes forgets that he is a left back," concluded the 32-year-old.
