Eric Tinkler: We Were Nervous

Orlando Pirates coach, Eric Tinkler, believes his side's first half performance was down to nerves.

The Buccaneers had to come from behind to secure a point against the cross-town rivals at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

"First half, we looked a little bit nervous, in possession of the ball, we didn't keep it very long. We were playing way too many long balls and even when we did play the long balls, we weren't finding either of our strikers," Tinkler said after the game.

"They (Chiefs) were pretty dominant, created a lot of chance becuase we were also not very compact. We gave away too much space in the midfield, Shabba and Letsholonyane were finding a lot of free space.

"Second was much better, we fixed one or two things, we started to play a bit better, I thought the changes gave us a more positive approach.

"We started to combine a lot better and I thought the longer the game went on, the stronger we got and we created a few chances but overall probably a fair result."

The point sees Tinkler's charges move up to 11th in the Absa Premiership standings.
