Eric Tinkler Backed By Orlando Pirates Chairman

Eric Tinkler Backed By Orlando Pirates Chairman

Orlando Pirates chairman, Irvin Khoza, has assured coach Eric Tinkler that his job is safe despite widespread reports that he will no longer be at the helm post-Soweto Derby.

Chiefs Receive Duo Boost Ahead Of Soweto Derby

At a joint Soweto Derby press conference today, the 45-year-old told the press that he is happy to be staying with the Parktown-based team following a chat with the 'Iron Duke'.

Tinkler has come under pressure and scrutiny from the club's fans due to their poor league form that has seen the Buccaneers fall to 11th spot on the PSL standings. However, he has received the club's backing as he looks to turn the club's fortunes around.

"I had the meeting with the chairman and he told me to remain positive," Tinkler said.

"He supported me and the technical team. He advised me to remain focussed and work hard to get the results for the team."

The Roodepoort-born coach continued by saying that he is committed to giving his all for the club.

"As a team and as myself I will continue doing the best for the team as I have done in the past three years that I have been at the club," he added.

Cosmos Add To Pirates' Woes

Tinkler's next task in the dugout will be to claim all three points as Pirates take on Soweto rivals, Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium in the latest Soweto derby on Saturday.
