EA SPORTS FIFA 21 has been officially teased and is due for release in October, however, the new arrival of rival football game eFootball Pro Evolution Soccer (PES) is not yet known.
Konami has not released any new information on their annual football title, and rumours circulating in the media suggest that there might not be a full release of the game this year.
It has been a tough year for everybody with the global pandemic affecting businesses both big and small, and on top of it there will be a new generation of consoles arriving by the end of 2020.
Usually, announcements are made months in advance to create the necessary hype and attract initial sales, but PES may opt to push out a fully-fledged release this year, with reports of a Microsoft Store listing for PES indication a 'Season Update' version.
According to the reported listing, the update will mean that the PES 2021 Season Update would have the same gameplay as PES 2020, with updated teams and players.
It was also reported that it would be available at a 'special anniversary price'. Should this be the case, Konami could still announce some other additions.
There is still no official word on the matter though, and it remains to be seen whether or not Konami will decide to push ahead with an annual new release or focus their attentions to the next generation with a bigger release next year.
