Predicted Messi v Ronaldo FIFA 21 Ratings

Those Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi super fans will be no strangers to the online debate that looks as though it will never be settled – who is better?

Every year, the release of the new FIFA game attracts the attention of these fans, who speculate who deserves a better overall rating due to their performance in the season that has past.

The COVID-19 pandemic has certainly muddied the waters this year, with Ronaldo's surge in form with Juventus having been brought to an abrupt halt. However, the release of FIFA 21 is reportedly still on track for this year, with the usual release being around the end of September. Though, the actual date must still be confirmed by Electronic Arts (EA), while there is also speculation that there could also be a re-release of the titles for the next generation of consoles.

This has not stopped the speculation as to who will hold the higher rating in the new version of the game though. Messi was rated at 94 in FIFA 20, one point higher than the Portugal superstar.

Dextero are predicting that Messi's form this season will be enough for the developers to consider bumping the Barcelona captain up by another point, taking his overall to 95. The Argentine has knocked in 24 goals and provided 16 assists across all competitions, with his 19 strikes in LaLiga helping them hold a two-point advantage over Real Madrid in the league title chase.

They believe that Ronaldo will also enjoy an increase due to his form in the Serie A this season, but are also expecting a rise of just a single point, meaning he would remain one behind his long-standing rival for the second instalment in a row. Overall Ronaldo has scored 25 goals across all competitions, and assisted twice.

Ronaldo last outranked Messi with his ranking in FIFA 18, where he boasted a 94 rating, one ahead of Messi who was rated as 93 overall.
