EA Access Getting A New Name

EA Access Getting A New Name

EA Access and Origin, the service that allows you to play various games at a monthly fee, will be rebranded on 18 August 2020.

The subscription service, which gives players access to a number of popular EA titles, including FIFA, will be renamed EA Play.

The basic Access and Origin packages will be listed as EA Play, while Origin Access Premier, which is at a higher cost and offers the latest games as they launch, will become EA Play Pro.

The price and benefits will not be changed during the rebrand, with subscribers still getting a library of games, early trials on new games and a 10% discount.

EA also revealed that there will be new additions in the coming months, with the likes of monthly reward, in-game challenges and more.

The reason for rebranding is to bring both services under a single name. And although EA Play is not a new phrase, with the developers having used it in the past for their showcase events, the live events will now be labelled EA Play Live.

Revealing the news on their official website, EA said, "EA Play puts you at the center of the experience. Moving all the benefits to a single brand is an important step in streamlining our services to ensure that being an EA Play member is the best way to play.

"Members will be able to access exclusive in-game challenges and rewards, unlock special member-only content, play early trials of brand-new titles, get instant access to a collection of our best-loved series and top titles, and save 10% on EA digital purchases, from full games to DLC.

"(Exclusive content) will vary from title to title, but we're talking things like early access challenges and rewards like Ultimate Team Packs, exclusive vanity items and cosmetics, and more. Make sure your EA Account email preferences are switched on so you'll be the first to know what's available with your membership on your favorite upcoming titles like Madden NFL 21, FIFA 21, and Star Wars: Squadrons."
