Chiefs Ready To Meet Nabi's Buyout Clause?

Chiefs Ready To Meet Nabi's Buyout Clause?

Kaizer Chiefs are understood to have made strikes in securing a head coach for the new season.

According to sources, it is understood that the Amakhosi top brass are in discussions regarding the buyout clause of Nasreddine Nabi at AS Far.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, the club had a change of heart on the Tunisian, with a decision on the next steps, believed to be imminent.

Sources close to the club have indicated that the 58-year-old is still willing to test his coaching abilities and experience in the DStv Premiership.

"You know he signed a two-year contract with AS Far but it has a buyout clause because he was also looking at the possibility of moving to another team before the end of the two year contract," a source revealed.

"Now Kaizer Chiefs are ready to meet that buyout clause which stands around R5 million. If you look  at that amount it's really nothing in South African football standard. Not for a player and not even for a coach and Chiefs won't have a problem paying that to get the coach. So for now, that's what they are looking at and everything seems to be in order."

"For now their main targets are either Pitso Mosimane and Nabi and if they don't get the one, they would settle for the other one. As you heard before Pitso's contract is ending at the end of the current season, though he is more expensive compared to Nabi while with Nabi, they have to buy him out of his current contract. But Chiefs are ready to do that," the source added.

Chiefs have previously faced a similar situation, with indications that the club paid Steve Komphela's buyout clause in 2015 when the coach, made the move from Maritzburg United.

The Siya crew made attempts to contact Chiefs for comment, but no response was received at the time of publishing.
