While all three clubs are believed to have shown strong interest, it's understood that Mokwena is holding out for a project that aligns with his ambitions, preferably a team competing in continental football.
"Yes, it's true that Pryamids FC were interested in him and that could have been a good project, but they still had a coach and things were not clear at all,” a source revealed to the Siya crew.
Indications are that Mokwena could be open to an Asian move, but only if the club is involved in the AFC Champions League.
“He’s not just looking for any job. It has to be the right one, with ambition and a clear project.”
“As for the teams in the Middle East, the coach turned them down because his main focus is to be part of a project in Africa, to play in the CAF Champions League and if it's in Asia, it should also be a club that will be competing in the Champions League in that region. That's why it didn't work with clubs who had enquired about his services," the source added.

Another insider has revealed that while several other clubs have made enquiries, timing and fit have been key factors behind the coach’s decisions.
“There are other teams that have shown interest, but either they have coaches in place or the project just isn’t right at this time. Rulani is being patient and waiting for something that ticks all the boxes.”
Since parting ways with Wydad Casablanca, the former Orlando Pirates coach has been linked with a number of top sides, including Tanzanian giants Yanga SC and even a potential return to the Buccaneers before they appointed Abdeslam Ouaddou.
