Richards Bay FC are believed to be weighing up a move for Chivaviro, with the Natal Rich Boyz looking to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season.
The Siya crew has been informed that Chivaviro is on Richards Bay’s radar, following confirmation that he will leave Amakhosi when his contract expires at the end of June. The 32-year-old has not featured for Chiefs since March and departs after managing five goals in 22 appearances across all competitions this season.
Prior to joining the Soweto giants, the burly forward had his most prolific campaign in the top flight with Marumo Gallants, netting 18 goals in all competitions during the 2022/23 season. Richards Bay were believed to have shown interest at that time as well, but the player ultimately opted to sign for Chiefs.
Now, with Chivaviro expected to be a free agent, the Natal outfit are understood to be back in the race. While former club Gallants are also believed to be keen on reuniting with their former top scorer, especially with Gabadinho Mhango expected to leave, Richards Bay could provide serious competition for his signature.
Richards Bay have struggled in front of goal over the past season, and sources suggest the technical team are targeting a proven finisher to lead the line in 2025. Chivaviro’s physical presence and PSL experience are seen as valuable attributes for a side looking to improve its attacking output.
