As reported by the Siya crew, Bongani Zungu, 32, has spent the last week training with Rulani Mokwena's Wydad Casablanca.
Although the midfielder is a free agent, with the current transfer window closed, a move at this point would be impossible for the midfielder.
However, a season-ending injury to Brazilian star Renan Viana has seen Wydad submit a request to the Moroccan Football Federation to replace Viana with another foreign player - Bongani Zungu.
In Morocco, this rule is applicable because their regulations allow clubs to replace players who sustain serious injuries that terminate their seasons. This replacement can occur outside the summer and winter transfer windows, as long as the injured player undergoes a counter-medical examination and the replacement is secured through a free transfer, rather than a deal between two clubs.
Zungu fits this category perfectly, though according to reports, he is set to undergo a medical examination with the Moroccan giants, which upon successful completion, will see him complete a switch to Wydad in the coming days.
The former Amiens star made 30 appearances in all competitions for Mamelodi Sundowns last season.
