Pirates In Uphill Battle To Hold Onto Mabasa!

There was enthusiasm in his services prior to having his best season ever, and now DStv Premiership Golden Boot Winner Tshegofatso Mabasa is the subject of intense interest from abroad.

Finding a striker who can deliver 19 goals and three assists in 33 appearances is no easy feat.

It is little wonder then that Mabasa is attracting interest left, right and centre!

The Siya crew reported that Sundowns were keen on the player in January but were not willing to meet Pirates' lofty evaluation of the player and then moved their striker search elsewhere.

The move worked in the favour of the Buccaneers as Mabasa enjoyed a rich goal return which saw him finish as the DStv Premiership's Top Goal Scorer (six goals with Swallows and 10 goals with Pirates).

Given Mabasa's rich goal-scoring form this season, it is no surprise that he is the subject of widespread interest, particularly from Saudi Arabia.

According to well placed Siya sources, enquiries have been pouring in for the striker from the Gulf Region and from a few leagues in Europe.

The Buccaneers face an uphill battle in holding onto their star man, as he continues to garner interest.

The next few weeks ought to be interesting for Mabasa in terms of his future and where he will be playing his football next season, though the Siya crew will keep you up to date on the latest regarding Mzansi's finest marksman!

Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for a comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
