Pirates Aim To Raid Maritzburg For Players

Orlando Pirates could be set to raid Maritzburg United for players, following the Pietermaritzburg-based club's relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

The Team of Choice drew 0-0 with Cape Town Spurs last night at the Harry Gwala Stadium, which was a result that confirmed the end their DStv Premiership spell, while the Mother City outfit gained promotion to the topflight after five years campaigning in the second tier.

As a result of Maritzburg's relegation, some of the players from the side are linked with exits, with Rowan Human becoming the latest player understood to have caught the attention of Pirates.

Already, the Buccaneers are expected to finalise a deal with Congolese midfielder Karim Kimvuidi after the impressive first season he has had in Mzansi, while indications from sources are that Human is also on the radar of the Soweto giants.

"Pirates are interested in Rowan Human from Maritzburg. Expect the negotiations to be fast tracked for the player's possible signing in the coming days," said the source.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, Human has also been on the radar of Kaizer Chiefs and SuperSport United, among other potential suitors.

In 2019, Bucs managed to sign both Fortune Makaringe and Siphesihle Ndlovu who were among the top players for Maritzburg at the time, while the relationship between the two clubs over recent years has strengthened with more players having moved between Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal frequently ever since.
