A trend appears to be developing in football transfers, with another South African player, following a pioneering compatriot's path to the North of the continent after a breakthrough success story.
The experienced winger, Elias Mokwana who once belonged to one of South Africa's clubs in the PSL, is now reportedly attracting serious interest from beyond the country's borders following a solid season with his current employers, Esperance.

It seems more South African football players are attracting interest from North Africa after Sekhukhune United's Mokwana became the first South African to win a league title in Tunisia.
Now sources in the know-how and close to Sekhukhune have indicated that another Babina Noko winger has also attracted North African interest.
The insiders added that former Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Keletso Makgalwa is on the radar of a North African club which has already approached the Limpopo-based side and enquired about the once Kaizer Chiefs target.
"What I can tell you at this point is that it's a team from North Africa. There are some talks and logistics that are still going on concerning the enquiry from the club and it is not the right time to divulge more information now. But I promise you the interest is there and the move of Elias Mokwana has attracted more teams from North Africa to look at South Africa, and Keletso is the latest target," the insider told Soccer Laduma.
Meanwhile a second source revealed that there has been local interest in Makgalwa as well, which is believed to include Kaizer Chiefs.
"There were different clubs which showed interest in Keletso locally and nothing happened. The one I know that really wanted him is believed to be Kaizer Chiefs. But at the moment the North African club is in the forefront that seems to be moving in faster on him," the second source stated.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns winger joined Sekhukhune United from Motsepe Foundation Championship side Upington City.
The 28-year-old has so far featured in most Betway Premiership games and has scored goals too.
Soccer Laduma contacted Babina Noko about this matter but there was no official response at the time of publishing this story.

Mokwana's title-winning success with Esperance has evidently opened eyes to the quality of South African talent, with clubs from Tunisia, Morocco, Egypt and Algeria scouting the league more intensively.
For Sekhukhune United, who have already seen Mokwana depart for North Africa, this could represent both a challenge in retaining key players and an opportunity to establish themselves as a gateway club for international moves. As the transfer window approaches, Makgalwa's situation will be one to watch closely, potentially setting a precedent for more South African players to view North Africa as a viable stepping stone in their professional journeys.
