Sundowns Set To Pay Double Figures For Adams?

Sundowns Set To Pay Double Figures For Adams?

News reaching the Siya crew out of Chloorkop is that Mamelodi Sundowns are set to make a final push to convince Stellenbosch FC to allow them to sign Bafana Bafana midfielder Jayden Adams.

Siya sources close to both the club and the player have indicated that the Brazilians have once again approached the involved parties to finalise the deal.

The insiders added that Sundowns have put in an offer that is better than the one they had made for striker Iqraam Rayners.

"Actually they want to sign him before the close of the transfer window period and that's why they have made an offer which is better than that of Iqraam Rayners. That means it's over R10m. So that just shows how serious they are about signing Adams. They still want to reinforce their midfield department for their own reasons and Jayden Adams is one last priority right now. They want to make sure they have him," the source told Soccer Laduma.

A second source discussed the seven tournaments that Sundowns are going to be playing in, such that they want a well-balanced team, particularly in the midfield to cope with the high demands.

"After losing Bongani Zungu and Gaston Sirino in those positions they haven't really replaced them despite signing a few players. So since they will be playing in a lot of competitions then they want to have a well-balanced squad to cover up for injuries, suspensions and also fatigue. They are looking at Adams as the one to strengthen that area. They have made a very good offer and we are waiting to see what happens from here," the second insider stated.

Soccer Laduma contacted Adams' agent, Michael Costa, who could neither deny nor confirm the offer but agreed that interest is still there.

"Nothing that I'm aware of and I spoke to Rob (Benadie) on Monday. But, yes interest is still there," the Portugal based Costa told Soccer Laduma.

Meanwhile, efforts to get a comment from Stellenbosch FC were unsuccessful as there was no response at the time of publishing this story.

The Siya crew also contacted Sundowns and the club chose not to comment on the situation.
