Insider: Why Shalulile Didn’t Sign For Saudi Club

Looking back to when Peter Shalulile attracted interest from overseas, the Siya crew has been informed of why the Namibian international didn't secure a deal.

At the end of the 2022/23 season, having finished as the joint DStv Premiership top goal scorer along with Khanyisa Mayo on 12 goals, Shalulile had interest shown in his services from Saudi Arabia.

But with the player being their leading marksman, the Brazilians had him in their plans for the recently finished season, ruling out any possibility of a deal elsewhere at the time.

An offer of over R3 million had been tabled for the former PSL Footballer of the Season, according to a close source, but was considered below the evaluation of the player by the ex-African champions.

"It's something that happened previously, and not in this transfer window, but yes, there was interest in Shalulile from Saudi Arabia. The club made an offer of 2 million US dollars (+/-R36, 325, 600, in the current conversion rate), but it was considered below Sundowns' evaluation of the player and was turned down," said the source.

"That complicated things because there were a lot of factors that the interested club looked at for that value, and it was decided that it would not make good business sense and the deal fell through," the source said.
