Chiefs Set To Announce New Coach: Timing The Big Reveal

Chiefs Set To Announce New Coach: Timing The Big Reveal

Kaizer Chiefs are close to announcing a new head coach, with insiders suggesting when the appointment could be made public and who's in contention at this point in time.

The search for the right candidate could continue to see a few potential twists, especially with recent developments involving possible candidates.

Siya sources close to the club have indicated that the relegation of Abha Club in Saudi Arabia has intensified Chiefs' interest in going after Pitso Mosimane, whose future in the Middle East now seems uncertain.

The sources added that AS Far's Moroccan coach Nasreddine Nabi, who has been on Chiefs' radar since last season, is also a strong contender for the position along with Alexandre Santos.

The preferred candidate could be announced in about two weeks from now, according to insiders privy to information.

"I think (the announcement) will be much earlier than expected. This week is about the break first, then the technical team will present their report, then obviously a week after that (we could be told)," said the Siya source.

"Mainly, in the second week of June a new coach could be at the club. In two weeks time I should say. Almost everything is finalised regarding the coach but just a few minor things that still need to be sorted at the moment. But they are good to go in that area," the source added to Soccer Laduma.

However, the relegation of Mosimane's current club, Abha, has added a new layer of complexity to Chiefs' decision-making process, according to a second Siya source.

"There were two of them. Alexandre Santos and Pitso Mosimane though Pitso was on standby pending whether his club in Saudi Arabia will say or do. But maybe, now they won't keep him which could push Chiefs to go for him over Santos. You know the Sporting Director (Kaizer Motaung Jnr) was overseas last week and it could be on the coach's mission," the second Siya source mentioned, highlighting the dynamic nature of the coaching search.

"So let's wait for these two weeks and the new coach will be unveiled. It's as good as done now. They want him to be at the team as early as mid-June so that when they start preseason camp around the 1st of July he should be around.

"So, the announcement is very soon. I think in two weeks time. But again, Nabi is back on the radar as they agreed earlier on that he could bring his own part of the technical team which includes an assistant coach and goalkeeper coach, among others. So, looking from inside out, the club has made their choice but were just waiting to look at the situation with all the three coaches on the top of the list and then make the final decision," the source observed.

As anticipation builds, Chiefs fans eagerly await the official announcement, hoping the new coach will usher in a successful era for the club.

Soccer Laduma reached out to Chiefs for comment, but no response was received by the time this report was published.
