Riveiro’s New Pirates Contract Length Revealed?

Riveiro’s New Pirates Contract Length Revealed?

Orlando Pirates are actively working to ensure that head coach Jose Riveiro remains at the helm for an additional period, following the departure of assistant coach Sergio Almenara, the Siya crew has been informed.

Siya sources close to the club have indicated that management is set to present a new three-year contract to the Spaniard, although the deal has not yet been finalized.

"They want to secure Jose's (Riveiro) services before it's too late. They don't want the same scenario like the one which happened with Ruud Krool that he didn't renew his contract after winning the treble (in the season before he left)," said the Siya source.

"I can't say it's a done deal yet as the coach is currently on holiday but the club has offered him another three years and he is happy at the club as well. So, I don't know what will stop this proposal or offer on the table," the source added.

A second Siya source stated that the club has set specific expectations for Riveiro should he accept the new contract.

"It's not necessarily next season or the following one. No. But they would like him to guide the team to at least one league title in the next three years. It's a mandate they have apparently included in the new proposal and the coach also wants to win the league title before he leaves Pirates. So it's a mutual understanding and that's why it gives hope that the new deal would be sealed," the second insider stated.

Pirates' efforts to extend Riveiro's contract reflect their satisfaction with his performance and their desire to maintain stability at the club. By setting clear goals and showing commitment to the coach, Pirates are looking to build a successful future, aiming for at least one league title in the next three years under Riveiro's guidance.

Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
