The last two months of the season will be crucial for Hendrick 'Pule' Ekstein to prove to AmaZulu that he is deserving of an extended stay with the club.
Having returned to Mzansi last year from Azerbaijani Premier League side Sabail FK, Ekstein was looking forward to reviving his career at the KwaZulu-Natal club under the club's former coach Benni McCarthy.
However, things haven't gone according to plan for the former Kaizer Chiefs star as he struggled for game-time.
Ekstein, 31, has made just seven appearances in Usuthu's DStv Premiership campaign and indications are that he could be affected by the changes set to take place at the club at the end of the season.
When he joined the Durban-based club, the skilful player signed a one-year contract, and although the club does have an option to extend the deal, it hasn't yet been indicated if the option will be exercised.
"Pule Ekstein could be affected by the changes to take place at AmaZulu at the end of the season. He is one of the players who were recommended by Benni and with the coach no longer with the club he might find it difficult to keep his place in the team as his contract will also be coming to an end soon," said the source.
