Mailula Loan Confirmed, Heading To New Club Via Mzansi

Cassius Mailula is expected to spend some time in South Africa on his way to joining a new club for the 2024/25 season, the Siya crew has learnt.

Mailula is set to appear in the colours of a different club in the new season as part of attempts to get him back to form for a chance to reclaim his place in Bafana Bafana's squad after struggling for regular game time at Toronto FC in the MLS.

As revealed by the Siya crew, the 23-year-old has a deal agreed with Wydad Athletic Club in Morocco, according to sources, where he is set to reunite with Rulani Mokwena whom he played his best football under at Sundowns before moving to Toronto last year.

According to close sources, Mailula is expected to make a stop in Mzansi this week for some paperwork that needs to be sorted out before proceeding to his destination.

"It is all set, Cassius Mailula is on his way to Wydad. The two clubs and everyone involved have agreed on everything for the deal to happen and an official announcement should be made any time from now. He has already left Toronto and is on his way to Wydad but he will start in South Africa for some paperwork-related issues. He will be around here for a few days and then leave for Morocco where he is expected," said the source.

As confirmed by the source, Mailula is joining Wydad on a one-year long loan deal. His contract with Toronto runs until 2026.

Meanwhile, Toronto FC and Wydad AC have since confirmed Mailula's loan from the MLS club to the Moroccan club.
