The KZN football insider stated that Usuthu are believed to have signed Zimbabwe international striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya from FC Platinum.

"He is a Zimbabwean striker that the club scouted during the COSAFA Cup this year in Bloemfontein. Everything is finalised and he is apparently believed to be joining the club this week. Much more will be discussed after unveiling him. But it's believed that he has signed for two years," said the Siya source.

Meanwhile, an insider with connections across multiple PSL clubs stated that AmaZulu FC have beaten two other Betway Premiership clubs who were also interested in Ngwenya.

"It's believed that another club in KZN and one from the Cape were also interested in him but AmaZulu were the ones who made sure that they signed him. They are building a team to at least get into the MTN8 consistently," the second insider told the Siya crew.

It's understood that the 22-year-old striker has signed a two-year contract with Usuthu. While with FC Platinum, he had an excellent goalscoring record having played most of the club's matches.

Soccer Laduma contacted AmaZulu for comment but there was no response at the time of preparing this story.

The expected acquisition of Ngwenya represents a significant statement of intent from AmaZulu as they look to improve on last season's performance.
