Percy Tau lasted 80 minutes for Anderlecht, who missed out on third spot in the Belgian Pro League with a 1-1 draw against KAA Gent on Sunday evening.
Tau shifted back to his role on the left of the attacking three, with Gent missing no less than six players who tested positive for Coronavirus.
Tau wasted no time getting stuck in straight from kick-off with a smart attempt from a tight angle following good build-up play, but Gent goalkeeper Sinan Bolat read the danger and parried.
The diminutive forward pulled up another scary moment for the home side off a close-range strike 15 minutes in, but strayed narrowly wide on this particular occasion.
Gent started to take a bit of control towards the midway stage and had Anderlecht goalkeeper Hendrik Van Crombrugge denying Roman Yaremchuk's first-time attempt near the area.
This upward spell fell flat as the visiting side broke the deadlock a minute before halftime through Michael Murillo, who combined with a pass from Yari Verschaeren to crack the back of the net.
Gent went all out for a comeback following the start of the second half with Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe recalled to the dugout for Roman Bezus.
Lukas Nmecha had a big chance to double the away side's advantage midway through the second half from a floating ball, but was met by a smart challenge.
Anderlecht didn't stop asking questions moments later, with Tau flashing wide following a cross-cum shot towards the area.
That also happened to be the attacker's last involvement ten minutes from time as the former Mamelodi Sundowns talisman made way for Josh Cullen.
This fired up the home side who drew level in the final minute through Yaremchuk, denying Tau and his Anderlecht teammates third place in the process.
