Is Pirates Still Keen On Hanamub?

A decision appears to have been made for Orlando Pirates in pursuit of AmaZulu defender Riaan Hanamub, the Siya crew has learnt.

Since last season, Hanamub has been strongly linked with a move to Pirates who have been keen to reinforce in the left-back position in coach Jose Riveiro's team.

The Namibian international has been impressive with his performances and one of the influential players for Usuthu since joining the club from Chippa United in 2022.

In the 2023/24 season, the 29-year-old made 34 appearances across all competitions, made three assists and scored one goal as he finished one of the consistent players for coach Pablo Franco Martin's side.

Sources have indicated that Pirates had hoped that Hanamub would be available at the end of the season for a possible deal, but AmaZulu made their intentions clear about the player by exercising their one-year option on his contract as the original one was expiring.

"He (Hanamub) has been an important player for AmaZulu and that's why he remains in the plans for the coach for the new season. It isn't surprising that there's been interest from Pirates and other clubs in his services, but he is unlikely to move for now. Maybe the clubs can work out something for the next transfer window," said the source.
