Special Message To Pitso, Benni & Co From Middendorp

Special Message To Pitso, Benni & Co From Middendorp

Ernst Middendorp and Fadlu Davids

A special message has been sent to former Bafana Bafana and Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane, as well as other overseas-based South African coaches from Ernst Middendorp.

Following the move for ex-Orlando Pirates coach Fadlu Davids to Russian Premier League outfit Lokomotiv Moscow, Middendorp has lauded the latest trend of Mzansi coaches joining clubs abroad.

"It is a huge step or chance in Fadlu Davids' career in the real professional soccer industry. Fadlu is involved in an extremely demanding environment, but I am sure he is well prepared to handle it effectively," said Middendorp, speaking to the Siya crew,

"I am pleased to see Bradley Carnell in the MLS. I am absolutely pleased to see that South African coaches are having the belief to take the challenge in the real professional soccer industry on different continents. The step that Bradley Carnell took some years ago to New York Red Bulls was huge and now he is the head coach of St. Louis City SC, which is starting the franchise this season in the MLS," he said.

"Also, Benni McCarthy being involved at the highest level in the EPL in a bigger team, that's fantastic. I'm even pleased to see Pitso going to a project in a different environment with a totally different purpose of revitalizing the club of that magnitude, that's a huge job and a challenge and there's no doubt about it," the German tactician added.

"It's the same thing with Fadlu now, he has qualified with a UEFA A licence, it's great to see and he has my support fully. We started talking about it three or four weeks ago and I fully supported the intention to the major step. This is a huge step and a chance to take his career forward. This is another way for coaches to go out to contribute and not sitting here without being brave enough to go out of the country and show your quality and what you can do and what you are capable of. The guys will come back and contribute to the development of football in South Africa. Why can't Benni come back? Pitso will come back, Fadlu should come back and so is Bradley so as to use the knowledge they acquired. It's not only about the players, but coaches can also go overseas to learn the new ways of handing situations and that is so crucial," concluded Middendorp.
