It's been a turbulent few days for Bafana Bafana's Bongani Zungu, but with the dust now settled, the latest news shows that life goes on in the football industry…
Zungu was in Spain last week as he looked to finalise a move from Amiens in France to LaLiga's Mallorca in what was due to be a loan until the end of the season with an option to buy.
The 27-year-old was all set to complete the switch from Ligue 1 after undergoing a medical with Mallorca, however his French employers were unable to find a replacement in time and ended up pulling the plug and calling off the transfer.
While the news will have come as a disappointment to the Bafana star, he will now be fully focused on making sure that he ends the season on a high for Amiens ahead of what could be a busy transfer window at the end of the campaign – starting with tonight's clash against Olympique Lyonnais.
Zungu travelled with the team to Lyon as he looks to make his first appearance in Amiens colours since they called off his transfer to LaLiga, although it remains to be seen whether he will go straight back into Luka Elsner's starting XI given the situation that played out over the last week.
The former Vitoria de Guimaraes man has played almost 80 top-flight games in Europe since moving from Mamelodi Sundowns, and could reach 100 before the 2019/20 season is up.
