Makaab Confirms Next Step In Kodisang's Career

Makaab Confirms Next Step In Kodisang's Career

European-based winger Kobamelo Kodisang, will complete a permanent transfer to recently promoted Portuguese club Moreirense, after a phenomenal campaign with the club, his agent has confirmed.

A target of Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs before the start of the season, Kodisang joined Moreirense from Portuguese topflight outfit Braga on loan for a campaign. It turned out to be the perfect move for him because not only did he get regular game-time after spending most of his time in the Braga B side, he was arguably the club's best player and the footballer of the season nomination is proof of this.

The 23-year-old, who has been included in Hugo Broos' preliminary squad for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Morocco next month, made 34 appearances in all competitions, banging in 13 goals to go with five assists to his name. The club has won promotion to topflight football, where Kodisang will get to test himself against some of the best players from Benfica, Sporting Lisbon and FC Porto next season.

According to his agent Mike Makaab, Moreirense had an option to sign Kodisang permanently from Braga and it was based on them winning promotion to the topflight. At the time, a transfer fee was also agreed upon, so Kodisang is expected to be confirmed as a Moreirense player on a permanent basis and he will get to showcase his talent in one of the top leagues in Europe.

"Moreirense had an option to purchase him and that option was based on them being promoted. They have been promoted, so he is now going to be a permanent player at Moreirense. They will pay a transfer fee to Braga. It's a pre-agreed transfer fee, so everything is going according to plan. We are very excited that he is going to play in the top league in Portugal," his agent Mike Makaab said to the Siya crew.

"Phenomenal season for him. I think, in total, he scored 12 goals and a number of assists. He's won MVP on a number of occasions and he is line for player of the year. So, he has had a wonderful season. But I will tell you what makes him special outside of his talent. He's got a wonderful character. He is a solid young man with strong ambitions and huge determination. He does not allow anything to get him down. He just gets on with what he has to do."
