FIFA Have Made Recommendations That Will Affect Bafana & Banyana

The FIFA-Confederations working group set up by world football's governing body has made some recommendations for international games that will affect both Bafana Bafana and Banyana Banyana.

With the world still gripped by the Coronavirus and football suspended indefinitely around the globe, there is much uncertainty surrounding the most popular sport on the planet – both at club and national team level.

CAF made the decision recently to call off the African Cup of Nations qualifiers that were due to take place in March, and it looks as though the matches set for June will now also be postponed to a later date in order to help 'flatten the curve' of infection.

As part of a statement sent out by FIFA this week with a list of recommendations that the COVID-10 working group have sent to the Bureau of the FIFA Council, they suggest that international matches won't be returning anytime soon.

Regarding both the men's and women's games that were due to take place in June, the statement read that it has been recommended 'to postpone all international matches due to be played during the upcoming June 2020 window'.

Meanwhile, regarding the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup, they added that they plan 'to organise bilateral discussions with confederations concerning 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in order to finalise a revised match schedule pending health and safety developments'.

Bafana head coach, Molefi Ntseki, has had a tough start to life as head coach of Bafana with numerous games being called off or postponed despite being in charge for less than a year.
