Towards the latter part of the season, Lorch's influence on the Pirates team was telling.
The midfielder showed glimpses of the form that saw him walk away with the PSL Player of the Season Award in the 2018/19 season, and as a result inspired Pirates, particularly in the CAF Confederations Cup where they went all the way to the final.
This rich vein of form has also seen the midfielder get back into the reckoning for Bafana Bafana after a sustained period of absence from the national team.
Now, Lorch who is part of coach Hugo Broos' team that will do battle with Morocco in the AFCON qualifiers has opened up on the battles he faced while getting back to his best.
"It is hard, because after my shoulder dislocation and the surgery there is down time so you have to hype yourself and continue to be positive but that is also easier said than done," Lorch told SAFA.net.
The midfielder also shared his delight with being back in the national team fold after a two-year absence.
"I was working towards a call-up. When I saw that the coach drafted me in his initial squad, it was like recognition – the type I needed to cement the fact that I am on my way back to where I want to be, and that is on the football pitch finding the back of the net be it for my country or club."
It is the first time Lorch has worked with Bafana Bafana's Belgian coach Hugo Broos, who appears to have left an impression on the 28-year-old.
"He is a good coach and to give me a chance along with the other deserving players is not something I take for granted taking into consideration the season that lies behind me, it was hard."
