Orlando Pirates appear to be keen on bolstering the attack, in an attempt at turning around the club's goalscoring woes.

Indications are that the Soweto giants have cast their net far and wide, with sources informing the Siya crew, of interest in Tanzanian striker George Mpole.

The forward, is currently based in the Democratic Republic of Congo, where he plies his trade at FC Saint Eloi Lupopo.

The former Geita Gold FC player was the top goalscorer last season in the Tanzanian topflight, beating Young African striker Fiston Kalala Mayele by one goal.

A source close to the player has informed the Siya crew that the Buccaneers are believed to have expressed interest in the 28-year-old during the 2022 July/August transfer window, but Geita and Pirates could not agree on the asking price.

Sources have since revealed that Pirates are understood to have reignited their interest in the striker.

"What I can tell you is that Orlando Pirates have been following the progress of the player since he was at Geita Gold. Even now that they failed to sign him last year, they are still hunting for him. They want him for next season. It seems they will open two or three foreign spaces next season and George Mpole is supposed to fill up one of those spaces," the source reveals.
