Pirates To Loan Out Two Keepers?

Pirates To Loan Out Two Keepers?

JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA - JULY 21: New Orlando Pirates head coach, Abdeslam Ouaddou walks through the arrival terminal during the Orlando Pirates players return

Since joining Orlando Pirates two seasons ago from ABC Motsepe League Gauteng outfit Dondol Stars, one of the club's promising goalkeepers has yet to make his Buccaneers breakthrough.

Now, insiders close to the Soweto giants have indicated that the shot-stopper is believed to be set for another loan spell as the club continues its long-term development plan.

Sources stated that Bucs are preparing to send goalkeeper Sphamandla Gumede out on loan for the upcoming campaign.

"The team believes he won't break into the first team this season, and that's why they are looking at loaning him out again. They are grooming him for the future, and that's why they want him to keep playing while on loan," the source told Soccer Laduma.

A second insider stated that Gumede will not be the only goalkeeper departing temporarily, as the club works to streamline its goalkeeping department.

"They are believed to be looking at loaning out at least two goalkeepers so that they have three first team goalkeepers in Siyabonga Dladla, Melusi Buthelezi and Sipho Chaine and they will have the DDC goalkeeper train with the first team so that's why they are looking at loaning out both Gumede and Ethan Visagie this season," the insider told the Siya crew.

The 24-year-old Gumede spent last season on loan at Orbit College, though his destination for the upcoming campaign remains undetermined at this stage.

Soccer Laduma contacted Pirates for comment regarding their goalkeeping plans but received no response at the time of publishing.
