Orlando Pirates have emerged as potential favourites to sign talented Congolese midfielder Karim Kimvuidi from Maritzburg United ahead of another top DStv Premiership side.
As recently reported by the Siya crew, Mamelodi Sundowns were possibly the first club to show interest in the 21-year-old former Motema Pembe FC midfielder.

Siya sources have now indicated that Orlando Pirates could beat the league champions to his signature.
A source who is in the know about the interest from both teams told the Siya crew that the Buccaneers are getting potentially closer to landing the midfielder.
"As it stands, now Pirates are the favourites. I can't divulge a lot of information right now because it may disturb the whole deal and both the club and the player may lose in the process," said the Siya source.
"But what you should know is that what Pirates have offered is enticing and hard to resist. If Maritzburg United remain in the DStv Premiership next season there would be an exchange of players being involved as well and money added in the whole deal for Pirates. So, for now they are waiting for the playoffs to finish then they can finalise the deal as well.
"But as things stand now, Pirates stand a better chance of signing Karim (Kimvuidi) ahead of Sundowns. However, we all know what happens or what can happen in football. So, as I have said, let's wait for the playoffs to finish and see what will happen," the source observed.
Kimvuidi has impressed since joining the Team of Choice in July, as he has played 32 games in all competitions including 29 in the DStv Premiership. So, he only missed one league game which is quite impressive.
Since he reportedly signed a three-year deal until June 2025, if he moves from Maritzburg, the KwaZulu-Natal club should get a good price for him. Asked about the interest from Gauteng teams in their player, United's Chief Operations Officer Quinton Jettoo stated that they know nothing about it.
"We also just see (speculation) from the media. There is nothing official that he has come to us. We know nothing about that," Jettoo told the Siya crew.
