Downs Keep Tabs On Kimvuidi?

News reaching the Siya crew is that Mamelodi Sundowns are believed to be tracking a Maritzburg United midfielder.

Sources have revealed that the Brazilians are understood to have been monitoring the performance of attacker Karim Kimvuidi.

Insiders have revealed that contact has been made with the player's camp, with the aim of discussing his future.

"From what has been happening, Sundowns are interested in Karim. They have been following his progress since the first time they saw him and were impressed. But you know the player is still on contract at Maritzburg, but that can't stop Sundowns if they really want him," a source informed the Siya crew.

A second source added that Maritzburg could lose players if the club does not manage to retain its topflight status and that the sale of Kimvuidi would ease the financial burden that comes with relegation to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

"Maritzburg United are understood to be willing to let him go in the event they are relegated from the Premiership. He is a foreigner and his salary is good so they would want to cut some of such players and he could be let go to join Sundowns if there are formal talks between the teams. For now, its Sundowns who are interested in the player so let's wait and see maybe at the end of the season," the source added.

The 21-year-old former DC Moteme Pembe midfielder has so far played in 27 league games for Team of Choice.

Maritzburg's Quinton Jetoo denied the interest.

"No. Nothing that I know of at the moment. Maybe they are just reports or rumours as they are for now," Jetoo said.

Efforts by the Siya crew for a response from Sundowns camp proved futile.
