Following the departure of Innocent Maela, Orlando Pirates have confirmed who their captain will be going forward.
The club has selected Nkosinathi Sibisi as the new captain, with Tapelo Xoki and Mbekezeli Mbokazi serving as vice-captains.

Sibisi and Xoki shared the armband last season whenever Maela was not on the pitch, while Mbokazi was captain on a few occasions during their pre-season tour in Spain. Mbokazi has been tipped to lead Pirates in future and being vice-captain is a clear indication that the leadership qualities of the youngster are valued.
Pirates exercised the option in Sibisi's contract, showing how much they value his presence in the team. With the experience he has gained at both club and international level, Sibisi will have a big role to play in leading the Buccaneers as they hope to win their first Premiership title since 2012.

Speaking to the Pirates media team, Sibisi expressed his delight at being named captain. He was captain at his previous club Golden Arrows, so this is something he is used to.
“It is truly an honour and privilege to be named captain of this great institution. It’s a responsibility that I accept and promise to fulfil the role in the best way I possibly can.”
Pirates are expected to start their new campaign with an MTN8 clash against Polokwane City on Saturday.
